Sunday Brunch has to be the best meal of any week. It's rare for me, which makes it even more special when I manage to rise lazily from my bed, get dressed and go outside into the world which always seems more still, more thoughtful, more tolerable on a Sunday afternoon.
On this particular afternoon, we'd made plans to visit Fat Sabbath - a body positive clothes swap in Belfast with our friend, Claire. It was amazing, and I am seriously proud to the amazing women who pulled it together. After hauling a load of new outfits, we went for a dander around the Cathedral Quarter and ended up inside the MAC. I'd never tried the food in the restaurant before, and having heard plenty about it's previous incarnation - 'Canteen' - we decided to give it a go.
The menu is perfectly autumnal, full of dishes using squash and mushrooms and all the other things bountiful during this season. We all went for a sharing platter and then hearty meals of chowder and risotto and rolled home with full bellies and happy faces.
Aside from the food, the location really was perfect for a small gathering of friends on a lazy Sunday as you can spend your time exploring the galleries before and after your meal - there's always interesting exhibits on any given week.
